5 Facts About Me (some of which I probably shouldn’t tell you but I’m going to anyway):

  1. I share life withΒ five rabbits called Fifer, Poppy, Timmy, Cleo and Sebastien. Β Two of them (Cleo and Timmy) are houserabbits and the other three live outdoors in a purpose-designed bunny village in my back garden. Β This was possible because…
  2. I own my own house. Β I bought a house with my future-husband-to-be when I was 26. Β This was such an achievement since I was homeless at 18, but at the same time it has come with a few downsides, but the best part is not having to deal with/be dependent on any more shitty landlords.

    independent-women1
All the women, who independent, throw your hands up at me!
  3. I love cars (but ironically I get car sick). Β I love working on my car, I love driving my car, I love travelling to awesome places in my car, I love dreaming about which cars I could buy if I had any money at all… Β cars cars cars. Β I wish they were more environmentally friendly though.
  4. I am married.Β  My first wedding anniversary wasΒ in June. Β I never planned to be married but I’m not complaining! Β I was determined not to just disappear into the life-role, but I wanted to be my own person… but married. Β Just like my childhood role model, Emma Peel from The Avengers (TVΒ series, nothing to do with Marvel).Β  I get annoyed that TV (and well-meaning older relatives, and actually, society in general) leads us to believe that once a woman is married her sense of personhood dissolves into the household. Β It doesn’t have to be that way!! Β I am still an independent ladyΒ with my own mind, I still travel solo when I want to, I just happen to share life with someone else while I choose to do so. Β People make out it’s such a big deal, but it’s basically like having a boyfriend only if one of us dies the other one has less paperwork.
  5. I have an obsession with soya sauce. Β If it’s not on my rice/noodles, I don’t want to know! Β Well… unless I’mΒ not eating Oriental food.

  2. That is SO awesome that you own your own home at 26! That’s an accomplishment. I don’t think I’ll get to say the same, lol. I probably won’t own a home in Vancouver until I’m like 90. I also love that your an independent lady! It’s so true. I hate how society assumes us to be instant homemakers after marriage.

    1. Thanks, I’ve been off work for the past 3 months so I’ve been less independent than I’d like recently, but I’m going back as soon as my clearance checks come through and I never thought I’d be this excited to go back to work lol!

      1. Lol, I actually love working. I always have. I haven’t been working either recently and I feel like a useless couch potato.

      2. Argh I don’t like my line of work, but not working at all just sucks all the energy out of you! I hate it. I think planned, long holidays with definite end dates are so much better than not working. It’s like life has to be put on hold!

      3. I don’t particularly like my line of work either. I don’t think I actually want an office job at all. Unless it’s in my home office (aka my dining room table where the dress code is PJS)

  3. Aww your bunnies sound adorable! I’d love a house rabbit but I think my Beagles would try and eat it πŸ‘ŽπŸΌπŸ‘ŽπŸΌ

    1. Aww beagles are great – I used to have a beagle and he was so good with bunnies (and my Jack Russell, when she was a puppy, used to herd the baby rabbits back into their house when they escaped, she was like a little bunny shepherd). I think it depends on the dog’s personality though!

      1. Aww sounds adorable! Yeh I’m not sure with my two! Both little monkeys!! Glad yours get on so well though xxx

      2. Your beagles sound awesome! Mine are both sadly gone now, and it’s 14 years since DiDi herded the baby bunnies (all also dead). That’s the trouble with pets 😦 I have different buns now though (and I wouldn’t risk introducing a puppy these days; its so rare to find the right dog/bunny combo). πŸ™‚ I do miss walkies – not quite the same with a rabbit LMAO!
