So I completely put off writing this review for 3 months. Sometimes when I get a product that I was really looking forward to, I can’t wait to review it. This time, however, I was so disappointed and I felt like I wanted to make sure this cream had the fairest hearing it possibly could before I reviewed it.
On that note, I’m going to keep this fairly short and sweet.
1. It didn’t moisturize. For a night cream that’s pretty fatal.
2. It didn’t improve my skin. It was supposed to tighten and tone skin but I found it did nothing. Bee venom usually tingles on the skin; this did nothing.
3. It didn’t have a great texture. It was just too thick, it was more like a near-solidified jelly and it sat on my face like a layer of tile grout or spackle.
Given those three points I decided to stop using it in favor of some of the other creams I’ve been trying on my face lately, such as the Olay Regenerist 3 Point Cream, the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, the Manuka Doctor Replenishing Facial Oil, and I’ve even had better results with the bog-standard Aloe Vera Gel from the pharmacy (I can’t remember if I’ve said but this stuff is like plant botox). If I had to rank the Manuka Doctor Api-Nourish Night Cream (with purified bee venom) against all those other creams, it would be at the bottom of the list. I’m not even going to Amazon link it because (and I don’t think I’ve ever said this about a product in the 2 years I’ve had a beauty blog) it was a complete waste of money and didn’t do what they said it would do. Maybe I got a dud, but when cream is £29.99 for a jar, they shouldn’t be making duds.

Since you are the only beauty blogger I follow and you seem to know your stuff…Can you recommend a lipstick that lasts more than 2 hours or a pencil eyeliner that doesn’t smear and fade within 2 hours? I have drawers of cosmetics, some cheap, some pricier, but NONE of it really lasts long term. Any ideas based on your own experience?

Ok, so for lipstick I find the liquid lipstick Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour one is the only one that lasts any length of time (that I’ve tried; I’ve read a lot of claims for other ones such as the Jeffree (spelling?) Star ones but I haven’t tried them) but the Maybelline stuff flakes as the day goes on and it also can be really drying (I mean, it’s like putting tippex or paint on your lips), so I have to use it with some slidey shiny crap like lip balm. Taking it off requires excessive effort and sometimes I feel like I’m scrubbing the top layer of my lip off but if I don’t, my lips are all flakey and have balls of lip crap on them the next day. All other lipsticks I’ve tried seem to disappear within half an hour if I wanted to wear them all day or they leave a stain that sticks around for hours and looks odd, so I’ve settled for the Maybelline. I’m still working on the eyeliner one, but so far I’ve been consistently disappointed with every damn one I’ve tried. The only thing that stays put is the Wet N Wild H2O proof liquid eyeliner, and that’s not a pencil (their pencil isn’t as good). I’m still on a quest to find one but I’ll let you know if/when I do!

Thus far, only the Avon Big Eye Pencil in Starry Night has given me any satisfaction thus they discontinued it! The lipstains or Covergirl two coats thing last two hours or so but…I am constantly watching tv shows and wondering HOW THE FUCK IS THEIR LIPSTICK SO PERFECT UNDER THE LIGHTS, AFTER KISSING, AFTER DRINKING AND EATING????
We can put men on the moon but cosmetics that last are impossible? Bitch, puh-leeze! ❤

I’ve done some TV acting and out of the shots, two make-up artists used to stand ready to re-touch everyone’s make-up after Every. Single. Shot. I think my lipstick was touched up more than thirty times in a 12 hour day; sometimes they’d also do my concealer, foundation and eye makeup too. After lunch, the set hairdressers would check everyone’s hair to make sure it was still exactly how they’d done it in the mornings. It wasn’t even longwear make-up because at the end of the day it all came off with a cheap baby wipe.
