This week, write 100 words about something that is unknown. How do you describe something when you don’t know what it is? Most of the horror genre hinges on the ability to do just that! The first example that comes to mind is Birdbox, where through the whole book, all we ever see are the effects of the creatures, we never know anything about what they might look like or who they are. The unknown scares us and reaches into a very primal part of our humanity. Think about how many children are afraid of the unknown of the dark (and adults, although most won’t admit it).
Here’s how to take part:
- Write a post, including your 100-word response to the challenge, any words of explanation or inspiration you wish to share, and a link to this challenge page.
- Comment on this post with a link to your page so others can see your contribution.
- That’s it! Super easy.
- If you don’t want to write a blog post, or you don’t have a blog, feel free to write your 100 words in the comments of this challenge!
This challenge will stay open for one week, then next Thursday, I will post the next challenge!
